POSITION SUMMARY:
Medical Assistant I is an entry-level clinical support position designed for individuals who have successfully completed a Medical Assistant training program and obtained the required certification.
This position provides an opportunity for newly trained medical assistants to develop practical skills and gain experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting under the guidance of licensed healthcare professionals and experienced clinical staff.
The Medical Assistant I is responsible for providing basic clinical and administrative support services to healthcare providers to ensure the efficient delivery of patient care. Under the direction of licensed medical staff, this position assists with patient intake, obtaining and documenting vital signs, preparing examination rooms, assisting with patient procedures, scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and coordinating patient care activities while ensuring patient confidentiality and exceptional customer service.
As an integral member of the healthcare team, the Medical Assistant I support daily clinic operations and adheres to established clinical protocols, infection prevention standards, safety requirements, and organizational policies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Document Chief Complaint, Patient medical history, social history, family history, current medications, and other pertinent information
- Take and document patient vital signs: Blood pressure, temperature, etc.
- Prepare patients and exam rooms for medical tests and examinations
- Create a positive and comfortable atmosphere for patients
- Assist Providers during examination, treatment and procedures as requested
- Perform minor procedures direct supervision of a provider
- Collect specimens and label as required
- Perform lab tests such as UA/UPT, EKG, HGB, etc. as requested and allowable
- Administer topical, oral, intramuscular medications/vaccines as ordered and qualified
- Stock exam rooms daily
- Stock and monitor medical supplies, medications, and vaccines
- Inform manager of all shortages of supplies or any malfunctioning equipment
- Clean and sanitize all rooms such as exams, treatment, vital, and waiting rooms.
- Clean and sterilize medical instruments in accordance with policies and procedures
- Accurately document vaccine and medical supply usage
- Record Vaccine refrigerator/s and freezer/s temperature twice daily
- Import Labs into patient files
- Assist with communication between provider, patient, other personnel and third-party providers
- Complete lab slips and other required forms when necessary
- Traveling to other medical clinics to provide coverage
- Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, other governing authority regulations, and Internal Policies and Procedures
- Assure all work/laboratory/exam areas are compliant in all standards such as OSHA, medical board, organizational policies and procedures
- Ability to adhere to all health center policies and procedures, including but not limited to employment practices, workplace safety requirements, infection prevention protocols, patient care standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Commitment to maintaining required certifications, licenses, competencies, mandatory training, and continuing education requirements.
- Ability to comply with federal, state, and local regulations governing healthcare services, patient privacy, workplace safety, and employment practices.
- At all times you will perform and undertake such other duties and responsibilities as are requested of you by Office Manager and/or Provider
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Required Certifications, Training/Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical Assistant certification or equivalent
- 1 year of medical/clinical experience preferred
Required Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control procedures, patient confidentiality requirements, and basic clinical practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and privacy regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and other healthcare technology platforms, including but not limited to IMS, EPIC, and Dentrix.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a high-volume healthcare environment.
- Ability to prioritize workload and perform a variety of responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills while functioning with an appropriate level of independence.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality in accordance with organizational standards.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, providers, and community partners.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- May require occasional travel between work locations or attendance at training sessions.

Employees may be exposed to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, medical equipment, cleaning agents, and other conditions commonly associated with healthcare operations.
